Aug 30th-Sept 4th 2026
Join us for a 6-day intimate photography retreat in Tuscany.
For women photographers who want to slow down, create and connect with like-minded creatives.
NOTE: Only 8 spots available
The Experience
Over 6 days, we photograph slowly and intentionally, while connecting and sharing with like-minded photographers.
Mornings begin with beautiful Tuscan light, coffee and conversation.
Days unfold with photography guidance, color grading sessions, inspiring walks through historic towns, and private chef-prepared meals shared around the table.
There will be time to photograph:
Seasonal food at the market
Tuscan landscapes and village details
Street scenes and everyday life
Quiet moments that tell the story of a place
One of the highlights of the retreat will be a day trip to Rome, where we’ll explore and photograph the Eternal City together, observing light, color, movement and the small details that make the city unforgettable.
Leave the details to us! Our luxury retreat is designed to be completely stress-free.

We're counting down the minutes until we meet you. Just a heads-up: we're huggers, so get ready for plenty of those!
We'll pick you up at the Florence train station (Firenze Santa Maria Novella) at 3pm.
We'll head to the villa (about 50 minutes away) and then it's time to exhale. An Italian-style aperitivo awaits you - cocktails, mocktails, and mouthwatering charcuterie boards while our private chef prepares dinner. We'll kick off the retreat with introductions, a little getting-to-know-you, and the kind of easy conversation that only happens when you're surrounded by the right people in a really beautiful place.
-
A lot of photographers don't choose their niche, it chooses them. You take a few jobs, get some referrals and suddenly you're "the food photographer" or "the restaurant photographer" whether that's what you wanted or not. This morning, we're changing that.
In our brand clarity workshop, we'll walk you through a structured series of exercises designed to help you get honest about the work you actually want to be doing, not the work you think you should be doing. You'll dig into who your ideal client really is, what kind of shoots genuinely excite you, and how to build (or rebuild) a brand that attracts exactly that. With proof from Roberta and Sam’s personal experiences doing exactly that.
You'll leave this session with a clear picture of your direction and the tools to start building toward it.
After a chef-prepared lunch (cameras out before forks, as always), we head to Fiesole, a hilltop village just above Florence with sweeping views over the city and the kind of quiet, golden-hour light that makes for the best photos. We'll explore, shoot and let the afternoon do its thing.
-
We're up early and heading to the train station for a high-speed train to Rome, the Eternal City is calling! Once we arrive, we'll spend the day fully immersed in the city: a guided food tour through ancient streets, incredible bites along the way and plenty of time to wander and explore through places like Campo De Fiori (an historical market) and Trastevere.
But this isn't just a day trip, it's one of the most valuable photography sessions of the retreat. Rome is your open air studio, except nothing is controlled, nothing is styled, and the light doesn't wait for you. We'll be shooting in real time, training your eye to find composition rather than create it in one of the most magical places on Earth. This is a skill that will completely change how you see and shoot when you're back home.
Lunch is of course included as part of the food tour!
-
We're heading into Florence, and first stop is the market, a feast for the eyes. We'll break into groups for a color walk, each assigned a color to hunt for as we move through the markets and piazzas. It sounds simple, but it will challenge your creativity and change how you see color forever.
We'll enjoy lunch out at a local restaurant and have free time to explore, wander and do a little shopping.
Back at the villa in the late afternoon, we'll settle in for one of our favorite sessions of the week: a real, honest conversation about the business of photography.
Pricing your work, understanding your worth and building a sustainable creative business, no fluff, just the things we wish someone had told us sooner. Wine optional but encouraged;)

This day is the perfect blend of photography and relaxation. In the morning, it’s all about color grading: how can we take our work to the next level with advanced editing techniques? We’ll go through our color walk photos to see how we trained our eye to find the specific color. We’ll cull, review and edit our photos together, learning in real time how to bring your photos to life with your new editing skills.
After a delicious lunch from our chef, we have a little something planned for you: a SPA day! You deserve it! We'll head to a stunning indoor-outdoor spa complete with relaxation rooms, thermal pools, waterfalls, saunas, and steam rooms. Consider it your reward for a week of showing up, shooting hard and growing.
We'll return to the villa for one last dinner around the table: good food, great company and that particular kind of magic that only happens on the night before something beautiful ends.
Thursday night is also sticker night! Wine in hand, stickers and notebooks everywhere, pure creative chaos. It's become a retreat tradition and honestly one of our favorite nights.
-
After breakfast together one last time, we'll say our goodbyes and head back to the train station at 10am.
Leaving Italy is never easy but here's what we've learned from every retreat we've hosted: this isn't really an ending. You'll leave with new skills, a new creative eye and a group of women who genuinely get it.
Most of our past students extend their trip: Rome, Amalfi, Cinque Terre and we fully encourage you to do the same. You're already here. Stay a little longer.
Until next time…Ciao Ciao!

This retreat was so beneficial to me as a photographer and as a person. Sam and Roberta are two of the best in the industry, and learning from them was priceless. I was able to put so many practical tips into practice right then and there which helped to solidify all of the knowledge I gained. I also learned many things spending time watching and shooting alongside my fellow photographers each day. Building relationships within the photography community was also so valuable, and I am so grateful to have walked away with new friendships with people that have the same passion for photography that I do. It gave me confidence in my work, it was unforgettable, and I would definitely recommend it whether you’re newer to photography or you’ve been in it for a long time!

I had the most amazing time at this retreat and would 1000% recommend it! Sam and Roberta helped me put more character and personal touches into my photography that has really translated in my photos performing better on social media and really anywhere I post them! My photos feel so much warmer and more inviting and I actually love my photography now. They helped us learn how to shoot in many different settings and lighting and I loved that. PLUS I've maintained relationships with almost everyone who was at the retreat with me and those friendships have been invaluable!

It was an absolute dream to experience the food photography retreat with Roberta & Sam in Italy. They were both so encouraging, knowledgeable, and patient and really helped me step out of my comfort zone. Not only did I hone my styling, photography and editing skills, but I gained so much confidence with shooting on location. I also learned how to shoot more lifestyle shoots in addition to just food (e.g., hands in frame, outdoors with food & flowers, etc.). It was a magical experience and I’m so glad that we also had downtime in the evenings just to connect and get to know each other better as well - I still keep in touch with several of the attendees to this day, as it was such a special experience. If you’re looking to take your skills to the next level and build beautiful memories, book this retreat!!
